    Research Description

    The Laboratory of Clinical Psychology and Affective Neuroscience focuses on identifying mechanisms contributing to pathological fear and anxiety, with the goal of developing targeted interventions for affect and mood dysregulation and enhancing psychological well-being. We use a combination of physiological measures (e.g. pupillometry), functional neuroimaging (fMRI), and behavioural experiments to answer the research questions.

    Prof Lee’s research is at the frontiers of neuropsychology and human neuroscience. Her team is dedicated to unravelling the neuroplastic mechanisms underpinning adaptive and maladaptive cognitive and affective functioning across the life span. Her current research focuses on factors protecting brain and psychological health.

    Research Description

    Shirley Li is an associate professor from Department of Psychology, The University of Hong Kong. She is a registered clinical psychologist in the UK and HK. Dr. Li’s clinical and research interests centre on sleep and sleep disorders, particularly sleep disturbance and mental health, and psychological and behavioural treatments of sleep problems in the context of psychiatric and medical illnesses across the lifespan. As a clinician-researcher, she is experienced in conducting laboratory, clinical and epidemiologic studies as well as translational research, which are interdisciplinary across clinical psychology, psychiatry, and sleep medicine.

    Research Description

    Xiangbin TENG is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received his Ph.D. in Cognition and Perception from New York University and previously conducted research at the Max Planck Institutes in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin, Germany. His research focuses on how the brain dynamically encodes and predicts temporal structure in naturalistic auditory signals, such as speech and music.
